another cot quilt

hello there, been a busy one this week with making things.  Thought I would show off this cot quilt though because I am particularly fond of it:

It is now on its way to its new owner, well, nearly, as it is to be a Christmas pressie for a new baby :-) There is enough fabric to make one more, so if you are interested in this, or anything else, then please message me.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Finished quilt

After a few busy days, I managed this morning to get down to a bit of sewing and finished the cot quilt.  Its backed with a red fleece fabric so will be warm and snuggly for the winter months ahead :-)

Now on to the blue themed quilt.  Maybe I should stop for breakfast first though....

Latest projects

Well, the Christmas cushion winged it's way yesterday to its new home, so yesterday afternoon, I made another one.  I like the fabric that I used for the border on this one, it is gorgeous, but I only got a fat quarter of it, so I think that a visit to my favouritest fabric shop is definitely on the cards in the next couple of weeks :-)
Ahh, you can just about see the border in the photo, but it looks so much better in real life :-).

In the next photo is one of two projects I want to get finished.  This one just needs a backing put on it.  I have chosen a red fleece fabric as that will be lovely and cosy for the winter months coming up.

The other quilt I am gong to make will be the same fabric in the middle, but bordered with a blue check and backed with a darker blue fleece fabric.

As ever, please email me if you are interested in anything :-)

Christmas is coming...

Made a Christmas themed cushion yesterday, the first of many, I think :-)  I like the Christmassy fabrics and could easily go mad in the fabric shop that I go to, Hansons, luckily, it is a 60 mile round trip from here so I can't go too often ;-)

Here is a picture:
I love it, hope you do too :-)

If you would like a Christmas themed cushion, feel free to email me and I will be happy to have a chat with you.

Mini Sale Starts Tomorrow

I have begun sorting through my stock and listing things in a Sale Album over on my facebook page  I will be adding to it over the next few days, as I sort through things in the spare room.  Today I sorted out the cushions, tomorrow it will be bags and other smaller things.

Remember that I do custom orders too, so please feel free to email me with any ideas you would like to discuss with me :-)

Quilt and News

Just a quickie to show you the nearly finished quilt I have been working on today.  Just a little more quilting to do and then it is done and ready to be sold.  I love it, the fabrics work really well together.

Here is a piccie:
Not the best picture, I will try to take a better picture in daylight tomorrow.

My other news is that I am now a fully fledged Stampin' Up! demonstrator as of today, just waiting for my starter pack to arrive and then I can get started creating lovely things with card.  Tomorrow I will be updating my other blog with information on how you can get involved, have a workshop, or a class.  Or if you live a bit further afield (or close by too), I will be offering the opportunity for you too to have the benefits of being a hostess, without having to host a workshop :-)  I love the things that Stampin' Up! have to offer and I can't wait to share it with everyone else.  If you love stamping and making cards, or scrapbooking, or all three, then daydreaming and crafting is the place for you :-)

Test post from phone

Well, I wouldn't recommend the blogger app for Android :-(  I think I will stick to blogging on the mac in future.

So today I made another cot quilt for a friend, hope she likes it, I like it a lot, but then I love pink and there's certainly a lot of that in it :-)
and the second one is gorgeous too, but is not quite finished yet.  I think the black framing works really well and the border of watering cans finishes off the quilt front perfectly.  I'm getting to like making quilts :-)

I have lots of ideas for more quilts, just need enough hours in the day to do them all :-)

New business and Christmas Cheer

Left it a while again, I know, but I have been busy sorting out stuff for my new venture over at Daydreaming and Crafting's blog and Facebook page, among other things, so the sewing has taken a bit of a back seat the past few days.

Tomorrow though, I will be hard at it putting together another couple of baby blankets.  These will be girly ones, so pinks ahoy!  Will endeavour to post pictures up tomorrow night when they are finished.  I found some more Christmas fabric too while I was sorting out my sewing area.  The sewing table has been moved round away from the window for the winter months and it gave me the opportunity to sort through the piles of fabric that had sprung up over the spring and summer months.  The next few weeks will be spent making Christmas themed cushions and wallhangings, so watch this space.

There is talk of an extra date in December for the Boscombe Vintage Market too, which I'm looking forward to, at least this year we are under cover in the Royal Arcade, instead of freezing cold under the marquees at the crescent.  I'm hoping to be in a festive mood by then lol and the extra date will provide an excellent opportunity to get those last minute unique gifts for loved ones at Christmas :-)

Did I mention...?

Did I mention that I now make cards too?  I have also been busy making some Christmas cards ready for that dreaded date in little over two months time.  Here is a selection of the cards I have been making:

and here are some Christmas ones:

These are all £1.50 each, or 4 for £5, plus £1.50 p&p.

Thinking of having a promotion

As Christmas is screaming up towards us at a great rate of knots, I am thinking of having a sale/promotion over on my Facebook page in the coming weeks.  I need to sort out what stock is available from the photo albums, and once that is done, I will start a week promotion of 20% off all stock, or orders for similar, if what is available doesn't take your fancy.

Here is a taste of what is on offer:

 A5 book/diary covers

 Pirate wallhanging

A selection of cute cushion covers, available with or without a pad

Mobile phone covers

So pop on over to have a look at what is available and in the next week or so, I will be starting the promotion, so keep checking back so you don't miss out :-)

Boring Book-keeping

Updating the accounts today, which involves printing things out, and this attracts my lovely cat to come and spar with the printer.  So this morning he spent time out in the kitchen.  As soon as he was let out, he came straight over to the printer to try to get his paw in somewhere....

Would much rather be creating and making than book-keeping and fending off cats, but it has to be done.  Hope you all have a productive day today :-)

Had to share :-)

Found this in my stash today and had to share it because the statements are so true of me and others that are afflicted with the fabric bug:

I feel another project coming on now :-)

Sunday 9 October 2011

How long has it been?

Gosh, it has been a long time since I have been on here, hasn't it?  Got to work out a way of doing this more often, I tend to get as far as my facebook page:  www.facebook.com/daydreamingandsewing and go no further.  Must try harder.

So, anyway, first of all, I have a new website now, www.daydreaming-and-sewing.co.uk, which I'm busy developing and adding things to.  I am also busy developing new ideas and patterns.  This weekend I made two simple little quilts for a cot or pushchair, they are both backed with a baby blue fleece material for extra cosiness and the top is a farmyard scene bordered with a light blue gingham, so perfect for a little baby boy.

I am also about to embark on a new venture in the next few weeks.  So I am thinking that both businesses will come under the umbrella of Daydreaming and Crafting eventually, I haven't completely decided yet, as I'm not quite sure if both can be run under the same name, but I will keep everyone up to date with what goes on.  I am off now to set up a new blog with the new name, in preparation, and I have already set up a new facebook page:  www.facebook.com/daydreamingandcrafting  Feel free to pop along and have a look, although there isn't much to look at yet...

Busyness

One weekend a month is super busy because I have a stall at Boscombe Vintage market on the Saturday and then I'm at Lyndhurst on the Sunday.  The market at Boscombe is in its infancy, yesterday was the third one ever.  They have recently set up a website, http://www.boscombevintagemarket.co.uk/, which is pretty cool and I get a mention on there in the run up to a market if I am there (which I should be).  If you're in the area on the first Saturday of the month, pop on down and have a look.

I'm also going to get more organised at selling things online.  I have been recommended a shopfront for my  Facebook business page and am going to get that installed.

Lastly I have started a blog over at wordpress which for the time being, I will import what I write here over to there, thanks to Dom, who has told me how to do it lol.  So fingers crossed it is as easy as he says that it is...

New Fabric

Made it to the fabric shop today and as luck would have it, they had a sale on, yippee!  So I was able to buy a bit more than I would have done which was good.

Here are the fabrics I bought:

The last one is patterned with pawprints, which I thought I could use for bordering some of the cushions with (depends how far a fat quarter will stretch).

So tomorrow will be spent cutting the panels for the cushions and getting border material sorted out.  Quite looking forward to getting down to work :-)

Bit of a quiet one today

Lyndhurst was a bit quiet today, some were just looking, I guess that's January for you.  I did however manage to make enough to cover the table costs and a tiny bit of profit, so all was good.  Had one customer complain about the price of the glasses cases :-(, so I politely pointed out to her that my lovely Grannie makes them by hand (and to be honest, I think they are worth at least double what I sell them for, but I feel that with the pile it high, cheap mass produced tat that some are looking for, I wouldn't sell them at that price, more's the pity).

Here are some pictures of the stall today:

Both of the cat cushions went today to a new home :-)  and we're off to Hansons at Sturminster Newton tomorrow to see if they sell panels of animals so I can make more cushions aimed at children as they do seem to sell well.

A couple of the other stallholders were really helpful today too.  They advised me to go to the crafty stores in town with a selection of my things to see if they would be interested in selling them, so I will be thinking seriously about putting the plan into action and seeing what comes of it, whilst still having a regular stall at Lyndhurst to keep getting my name out there.  World domination will come my way one day lol.
